About Leptex

Leptex is building personal intelligence for everyday people. Our mission is to democratize AI: make it something everyone can use, understand, and control. Each person should decide how their data is used, what their AI can do, and which decisions remain theirs. We start with farmers and independent business owners, building alongside them and learning from their daily work. Join us to bring that power to more people.

About the role

As Head of Product, you will work with the founder to set Leptex's product direction and help build the company. You will take responsibility for which problems we solve, who we serve first, and how our products create lasting value. Starting with farmers and independent business owners, you will turn our long-term vision for personal intelligence into clear priorities and products that deliver practical value.

You will stay directly involved in the work: talk with users, design UI and UX, use AI tools to build working prototypes and minimum viable products (MVPs), and evaluate actual product behavior. You will establish shared product principles and quality standards, guide product managers as the team grows, and align product decisions with engineering, legal, and business needs. These decisions should make personal AI sovereignty tangible, helping everyday people use AI while retaining control over their data and important decisions.

We value exceptional learning ability, product judgment, and evidence that you can turn ideas into products people use. We do not require a particular degree, a minimum number of years of experience, or a previous leadership title. This is a full-time remote role, and you must live and work in the United States.

Compensation: Cash compensation and any equity arrangements have not yet been determined. Compensation, any applicable benefits, and any equity grant and vesting terms will be agreed in writing by both parties before work begins.

What you'll do

  • Set the product direction: Work with the founder to define the product vision, choose which users to serve and which problems to solve first, and decide what to build, defer, or stop. Connect company strategy with a focused roadmap and revise it as customer evidence and AI capabilities change.
  • Understand customers and markets: Spend time with farmers and independent business owners, observe their work, and test assumptions about their needs. Understand their time, budget, technical confidence, and willingness to adopt a product before committing substantial resources.
  • Lead UI and UX design: Define a coherent experience across products and personally create user journeys, information architecture, interface designs, and interactive prototypes. Make onboarding, everyday tasks, and AI controls understandable and accessible on phones and computers.
  • Build and validate products: Use AI coding tools to turn ideas into working prototypes and MVPs. Read and revise the code, connect necessary data and services, test behavior, and deploy controlled pilots. Work with users to decide which ideas deserve further development.
  • Make personal AI sovereignty usable: Establish product principles for access to information, AI memory, permissions, and actions taken on a person's behalf. Give users clear ways to understand, correct, export, or remove their information, withdraw authorization, and review important decisions. Verify that the system respects those choices.
  • Set AI quality standards: Define evaluations for answers, actions, permissions, and failure cases across products. Assess usefulness, reliability, latency, and cost, and determine when human review is needed. Use evidence from testing and actual use to guide release decisions and improvements.
  • Own priorities and delivery: Turn company goals into a manageable sequence of product work with clear scope, owners, and success criteria. Coordinate dependencies, make trade-offs, and follow releases through customer feedback and fixes. Keep the team focused on the most valuable work.
  • Build a sustainable product: Understand how products deliver value, reach users, and cover the cost of service. Test onboarding, packaging, and pricing with the founder. Track completed tasks, continued use, time saved, support needs, and service costs while preserving user control.
  • Prepare for global use: Plan for different languages, local workflows, accessibility needs, and market requirements. Work with legal and local experts to decide which experiences can be shared and which need adaptation before entering new markets.
  • Build the product function and the company: Help recruit and develop product managers and other collaborators as needs become clear. Establish useful research, design, evaluation, and delivery practices. Share responsibility for company priorities and long-term decisions while remaining directly involved in building products.

What we're looking for

  • Exceptional learning ability: You quickly develop a deep understanding of unfamiliar AI capabilities, technical tools, design methods, and business problems. You find reliable sources, test assumptions, and turn new knowledge into useful products. Show us what you learned and how it changed your work.
  • Strategic product judgment: You can connect a long-term vision with a clear choice of users, problems, and priorities. You weigh customer value, technical feasibility, cost, and the company's capacity, and can explain when to pursue, defer, or stop an idea.
  • Evidence of building AI products: You have built or materially improved an AI product that people have used. You can explain your contribution, important decisions, failures, and what changed after feedback. Independent projects, research, open-source work, and professional experience can all demonstrate this ability.
  • UI and UX design: You can personally design clear user flows, information structures, interfaces, and interactive prototypes. You make sound choices about language, visual hierarchy, accessibility, and mobile behavior, and test them with people who have little technical experience.
  • Independent implementation: You can use AI tools to build a functioning MVP, understand and debug its code, connect data and services, run tests, and deploy it. You are willing to learn the technical skills a product requires and take responsibility for the result.
  • AI systems and evaluation: You understand how models, retrieval, memory, tools, and access controls affect product behavior. You can design useful evaluations, investigate failures, and judge trade-offs involving reliability, response time, cost, and human oversight.
  • Commitment to personal AI sovereignty: You want ordinary people to control their own AI, data, and important decisions. You can turn that commitment into understandable choices and effective controls, and test whether they work in practice.
  • Customer understanding and global perspective: You listen closely, learn unfamiliar workflows, and question assumptions drawn from a single market. You can adapt product decisions to different languages, business conditions, and user expectations while keeping the experience coherent.
  • Product leadership and collaboration: You can give others clear direction, review work constructively, resolve disagreements, and help people grow. You bring product, design, engineering, and legal perspectives into decisions and communicate the reasoning plainly. Evidence from small teams or collaborative projects is welcome.
  • Leadership and accountability: You are ready to make a sustained commitment to building the company, share difficult decisions with the founder, and take responsibility for outcomes. You can work with limited resources, acknowledge mistakes, adapt to new evidence, and stay involved from strategy through delivery.
